The Equality Act is a pivotal piece of legislation making its way through congress that everyone in the LGBTQ+ community should be aware of. The Equality Act would provide broad-reaching protections for LGBTQ+ people against discrimination in many areas of everyday life, including employment, education, housing, federally funded programs and more.
At the recent Fireside Chat with LEAGUE CEO Stacey Chosed, Senate Majority Leader Senator Charles ‘Chuck’ Schumer again stated the importance of this bill. Having passed the House of Representatives with a bipartisan vote of 224-206, the bill will now be debated in the Senate, and Senator Schumer issues a clear call to action for members to take action by calling and writing to their Senators support the bill. Regardless of your Senators’ party affiliation, it’s vital that they hear from us on this issue.
