As we approach Transgender Awareness Week we take a moment to celebrate the election of only the second openly transgender State Senator, and the first in the south, Danica Roem, now State Senator for Virginia.
Danica follows in the footsteps of Sarah McBride, elected to State Senate in Delaware in 2020. Following a hard-fought campaign overcoming the worst of personal attacks from her opponent, Danica was reported as the winning candidate on 8th November, 2023.
