In March, we take time to celebrate Women’s History Month, with International Women’s Day taking place on March 8th.  This year the theme for Women’s History Month is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”  The National Women’s History Alliance, which spearheaded the movement for March being declared National Women’s History Month, will encourage recognition of women, past and present, who have been active in all forms of media and storytelling including print, radio, TV, stage, screen, blogs, podcasts, and more. The timely theme honors women in every community who have devoted their lives and talents to producing art, pursuing truth, and reflecting the human condition decade after decade.

To mark International Women’s Day, the United Nations focuses on gender equality in innovation and technology and has multiple programs underway to understand and address the gender gap, both in access to and representation in the digital world.

As we think about the current attacks on the transgender community in particular, we take extra time to celebrate all LGBTQ+ women, and look for ways to uplift those struggling to find support from those close to them, as well as the community at large.  If you are an AT&T Employee please access the Member Portal from the home page and find out how you can be a better ally to LGBTQ+ women by checking out the exclusive video panel recording: LEAGUE at AT&T Presents: Being a Male Ally | Showing up for Your LGBTQ+ Women Colleagues.

We also recognize the importance of intersectionality this month with the issues women face also experienced by other under-represented groups including trans men.  The writers at GenderGP provide a valuable perspective in this article.
