There has been a Lesbian Visibility Day since the 1990s, but since 2008 the last week in April is celebrated as Lesbian Visibility week, which aims to celebrate lesbians, as well as show solidarity with all LGBTQI women and non-binary people in the community.
In 2024 the organizers are partnering with multiple global organizations with the theme of #UnifiedNotUniform to celebrate LGBTQIA women and non-binary people across the community and around the world.
