Who we are:
Since 1996, LEAGUE Foundation has awarded 233 college scholarships totaling $511,000 to self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer (LGBTQ) graduating US High School Students based on the following achievements: a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; significant involvement in community service; and acceptance to an accredited US college or university.
Originally, the Foundation began as a grass-roots organization with the generous support of LEAGUE Members (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender United Employees at AT&T). Through the years, however, the organization has grown into a national scholarship fund reaching all 50 states, the District of Columbia and all U.S. Territories, with support from corporations, individuals, and other LGBTQ organizations.
Currently the LEAGUE Foundation has up to ten (10) awards for consideration and each student application is automatically reviewed for each. The ten awards are:
The Laurel Hester Memorial Scholarship (1 award annually)
The Matthew Shepard Memorial Scholarship (1 award annually)
The Frank Duracher Memorial Scholarship (1 award annually)
The Tyler Clementi Memorial Scholarship (1 award annually)
The LEAGUE Foundation Scholarship (up to 6 awards annually)
